Nativity Sets Tell the Story

Several years ago, I started collected nativity sets from around the world. I find it such a joy to place them around the house every Christmas.


This set is from the desert state of Rajasthan, India.

This set is from South Africa made from Ebony.

This set is from Nepal.

This set is from Northern India.

These are American sets that Mom Mayfield purchased for JP and his wife along time ago. One of them comes with a book that we write our Christmas memories in every year.

Another set from South Africa, but carved in a different way.

We were having a date night a couple of weeks ago and were enjoying coffee in a bookstore when suddenly Santa walked by. Yes that's right, a thin Indian man dressed up in a red suit, wearing a white faced Santa mask, and saying hi and hello to every child that walked by. I guess he missed his Santa 101 classes on the technique of ho ho ho. The malls are decorated with trees and tinsel, but there is nothing representing our Lord Jesus Christ and his birth. And when you ask people what they know about Christmas, they mention Santa, gifts, lights, and how much it's just like when their gods come to visit their homes with gifts on Diwali. So this Christmas, we are making sure that the true meaning rings loud and clear. We are passionate to see Him receive all the glory for this day. Jesus is the reason for the season and we are brokenhearted that people do not know the truth. We are having a Christmas party this Tuesday and have invited 4 of our closest Indian families. We are really excited to spend time with them, eat veggie food, and just fellowship. Please keep this day in your prayers. We will be sharing the Christmas story, giving small gifts, and praying that these nativity sets will only aide in the understanding of the true meaning of Christmas.
