Born in India...Step 2

Before I go on and tell you about Step 2, I need to correct something as requested by JP.  Apparently I forgot a step between 1 and 2.  We'll call this Step 1-Part B.  See how complicated it is?  The Cradle birth certificate was not enough.  He also had to travel to another building in order to get an Affadavit to then request the no-name birth certificate.

JP and Sawyer went to the MCG office yesterday and waited 30 minutes to get Benjamin's official Indian Birth Certificate.  The same lady who had informed him a week ago that it would take 7 days to receive the certificates was working.  At first she didn't even remember anything about us and inquired about what we needed.  Then she sat down in front of a computer, entered the information, and printed 5 requested birth certificates.  7 days?  I guess for 7 days our information just needed to collect Indian dust to make it official?  These are the situations we really just don't understand and when we ask why, we know the answer is: that's INDIA!

But we are VERY thankful to have 5 copies of Benjamin's birth certificates: half sheets of cheap computer paper with the "purple stamp" that makes something completely worthless legally official!

Step 2 is to get passport/visa pictures taken, fill out documents, and apply for those documents at the US Embassy: Consular Birth Abroad, Passport, and Social Security Card.  We were able to get his pictures taken last week-2x2 pic of infant facing forward, eyes open, both ears seen!  A bit of a task for a newborn, but we got it!  Our scheduled US Embassy appointment is this Friday.  Wish us luck!!
