Born in India....Step 3

After getting our passport photos taken, we went for our appointment at the US Embassy.  Sawyer stayed with friends and had a playdate with his friend Na-Na while we took the 1 1/2 hour trip to Delhi.  Timing it just perfectly so that Benjamin would be sleeping, we showed up for our 11am appointment and then waited for an hour.  All our paperwork was accepted and we were informed that it would be a 10 day wait notified by email.

10 days later, no email.  After calling to check on our status, we were told the passport had not arrived.
Living in India, we've learned to be persistent in getting things done because most of the time, people don't follow through with what they tell you they will do and when they will do it.  Therefore....
The next day, still no email.  After calling to check on our status, we were told the passport HAD arrived.  JP quickly got ready and headed back to Delhi to pick up the documents.

We now have Benjamin's passport, but not the Consular Birth Abroad.  We've been told by one person that it would take 1 more week and then another person 4-6 weeks.  The good news?  This document is NOT required for all the other steps we have to take in getting Benjamin's Exit Stamp to leave the country.

Next step?  Ministry of Home Affairs.
