On Tuesday, our friends Sarah* and Dean*, called to tell us they would be taking us out to dinner. These are the same friends we had over for coffee, cards, and conversations a week ago. They took us to a famous place called Bikaneers. We ate Goal Guppa. I had eaten them before. So it was amusing watching JP learn the process: take a small fried hollow ball of dough, punch a small hole in the top, fill it with a potato mixture, submerge the ball in either a red or green sauce, and then pop it in your mouth quickly! So tasty and so much fun to eat to finish in just one bite!
One of the best parts of the evening was when Sarah told us that it was Dean's birthday and that they wanted to celebrate it with us. We had no idea about his birthday, but we had brought the Word to give to them or let them borrow IF the Spirit led the conversation that way. When we found out it was his birthday, we knew it was the best birthday gift to give and why we had felt we should bring it. The evening concluded with us presenting his gift to him. He was so excited, his face lit up, and he slowly touched the Word to his head. Then he and Sarah both told us that it was the best birthday he had ever had and that he couldn't have received a more perfect gift. They were both amazed that even without us knowing about his birthday, we had somehow sensed the need to bring something. What can we say? Only by His Spirit do we listen and then follow! Happy BIRTHday Dean!
