Trip to Bangkok..Day 1

It all started with us checking in at the Cathay Pacific desk at 12am, Monday, May 11. We had a 4 hour journey that wouldn't start until 3:30am. Of course we were feeling a range of emotions: excitement to go on a short trip and exhaustion because we had not slept at all and probably wouldn't for the next several hours. However, all the sleepiness in the world faded away when we realized we had been bumped up to business class!



We had so much space, it was quiet, with just a push of a button your chair would do whatever you needed it to, and I was able to sleep most of the time! It was such a blessing!

On Monday afternoon, we were totally tourists and took a trip to the Grand Palace and Temple area. Thailand has had 8 kings and the present King has reigned for over 60 years. It was very interesting to learn about the different Ramas aka Kings of the country as well as cultural practices.

These are pictures of several Buddhist temples on the site. These temples are not opened or available to anyone unless the King is on the grounds coming to worship. I always find the architecture of different countries so fascinating!

You will find a variety of statue "guards" near many of the temples.

This is the most famous Buddha idol. It is known as the Emerald Buddha, but made of jade. There are 3 different ones, each representing the different seasons of Thailand.

Although we were surrounded by gorgeous buildings and traditions foreign to our own, we were able to stop and admire something a bit more familiar and more spectacular: God's creation. I stand in awe, no matter where I travel, at His magnificent handiwork that was created by just His voice!


This is a picture of the 7th Rama's Palace that is now used as a place for King's guests to stay during their visits. The present King doesn't live on the grounds, but has a separate compound near the area.

Can you not imagine the King standing on the balcony above and make speeches to the country? This is exactly where it happens!

I have always dreamed of being a Princess and Josh-Pruitt definitely sees me as his. Naturally, I just sat down on a bench in the garden area and applied my royal practices. HA HA!
